I am an AACPS: Alum, Jessup Elementary School | Volunteer

When I started third grade at Jessup Elementary School it was my first time attending public school. I was homeschooled until third grade. It was a little hard to adjust to public school at first but Mrs. Timberg, my guidance counselor at Jessup Elementary had lunch with me and all the other new Jessup Elementary students. She made us feel welcome and if any of us had questions or problems she let us know we could come to her and talk to her about it. She made me become interested in a career as a guidance counselor where I could help others the way she helped me.

A year later when I was in 4th grade, I had Amber Sword as my teacher. She was very kind and a wonderful teacher all around. She inspired me to major in Early Childhood Education in college and because of her I became interested  in working with elementary school children. Mrs. Timberg and Mrs. Sword helped me realize that I was interested in working as a teacher and a guidance counselor at Jessup Elementary School. I was a student there and I would like to be a counselor or teacher there too. I would like to make a difference in  other students lives the way Mrs. Timberg and Mrs. Sword made a difference in my life. Because of them, I am currently taking online college courses majoring in Early Childhood Education. After I earn my Associate’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree I will apply for a job at Jessup Elementary School as a guidance counselor or a teacher.
