I am an AACPS: Guardian, Arundel High School
When schools first shutdown in response to the coronavirus pandemic, I was concerned because my son was taking Calculus AB/BC with Ms. Nakanishi. It is a hard class, with daily instruction and I did not know how he was going to be prepared for the Advanced Placement test with such a long break in instruction. But Ms. Nakanishi did not take those first two weeks off. She created a group chat for the students in her class and she taught daily at 9:00 AM, every day for those two weeks, even though teachers had been told all they had to do was get started on Google Classroom, etc. He is prepared now, even though the AP test has been modified, but he could not have done it without Ms. Nakanishi’s dedication and guidance. She is a true asset to Arundel HS and AACPS.
