“This is my second home.”

I just wanted to share that the Fort Smallwood Elementary School staff and community are the best around.  I am always reminded of this in October, when we still wear pink each week for Breast Cancer Awareness.  7 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the staff and parents at Fort Smallwood were so supportive and caring, with cards, meals, hats, and love.  I know they helped give me the strength to win over cancer.  I have been at the Fort for 32 years now.  Over the years people have asked me why I don’t try and move closer to home.  My response is, “This is my second home, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”  I hope to stay here until I do retire, some day.  Thanks to all my friends at the Fort!
