A story of appreciation for Mr. Michael Fornaro, Glen Burnie High School, from:

Briana Barone an AACPS: Alum, Glen Burnie High School, Class of 2017

Mr. Fornaro at Glen Burnie High School was one of the educators who taught me to believe in myself, to never turn away from a challenge. I had Mr. Fornaro for Honors Pre-Calculus my senior year. I was a terrified, shy, and embarrassed math student. I have consistently had bad experience with math. Going into his class, I was close-minded and counting the days to leave… or at least I was initially. Mr. Fornaro went above and beyond to help me understand the concepts he taught, at one point staying until 5PM because I needed help and my ride home had not yet arrived. Going through the Biomedical Allied Health Program brought a lot of challenges for me, especially with mathematics. Mr. Fornaro told me to never give up, give it your best shot, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

I am proud to say I am excelling in 200 level math courses at university because of him. I really and truly think he does not get the recognition deserves – I rarely got the opportunity to tell him back then, but I want him to know even early in his career he made a huge impact in my life and I will be forever appreciative of his drive to help his students succeed.
