Music: The Universal Language

Music is a universal language that can be shared among students of all ages, backgrounds, beliefs, and learning styles. Music is an artistic outlet open for interpretation, providing students with a blank canvas to discover all there is to know about music and how it impacts our world. I believe that my music classroom, and the lessons I conduct, should provide a creative language that can be communicated by all. Students should feel welcome, safe, and encouraged to be innovative in their own individual way and share their creations with their peers. I believe that every student, no matter what their ability may be, can become a musician and a consumer of music, breathing in all of the styles, instruments, rhythms, and song into their daily lives. I believe that my role as the teacher is to provide a learning environment open to new ideas, and promote every student to flourish in his or her own imaginative way through music.
