Program

At Crofton Woods Elementary, STEMtastic Week, celebrates the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. During this week-long event, teachers and community volunteers who work in the STEM field collaborate to introduce students to a wide variety of STEM topics and activities. The week started with a school wide assembly on internet safety, developed by ISC2, the International Information System Security Certification Consortium. During the week, each class participated in grade-appropriate lessons, on topics ranging from “All About Weather” to “Brain Science” to “Sorting Algorithms.” Families were pulled into the learning fun for a well-attended mid-week “Math Fun Night”, featuring stations with hands-on STEM activities and games.  Feedback from students, parents, teachers and staff was extremely positive and volunteers were excited that the students so eagerly participated in all activities. STEMtastic Week highlights the power of community partnerships and the importance of preparing our students for college, career, and community in the 21 st century.
