A story of appreciation for Mrs. Ragnhild Erdely, from:
Katherine Moore, an AACPS: Parent, Crofton Middle School
My son almost failed 5th grade. He’s was a Military student who began grade 5 as a new kid at his 3rd school and struggled. Middle school this year started and I was worried given his struggles the previous year. He started MS with a new attitude because everyone in grade 6 was a new kid, but Math is his most difficult subject. But in the first marking period he managed a C, and in the second and third marking period he earned a B! This happened because of Mrs. Erdely–she has given him SO much extra help! Not just after school or during SOAR, but she had taken the time to really speak to him and I cannot stress to you how much of a difference that has made to my son in math because since about 3rd grade he has hated math. Because of Mrs. Erdely, he doesn’t hate math; my son doesn’t love it, but he doesn’t hate it and for the first time believes in himself, believes that he is capable of learning it. That confidence Mrs. Erdely has given my son, the constant communication she has with me on how he is doing– she is a true educator. It really does take a village to raise a child, I am grateful that Mrs. Erdely is part of my son’s village.
