When The Call Went Out, SECU Was There

Recognized for their support of AACPS by Old Mill High School

In the brief time since the partnership between Old Mill High School and SECU was formed, Community Market Leader Robert Gazic and the SECU team have been a valuable part of Old Mill High School’s International Economics & Finance Signature Program.

Robert was eager to get in front of our students and volunteered to participate during both days of the 2018 Mock Interview Program at Old Mill. He brought along several colleagues on each day of the event and SECU even offered to send over guest speakers in support of classroom content, including one guest who spent time talking to Business & Personal Finance students about the importance of budgeting and saving.

When a call was put out for judges to participate in the 10^th Grade Signature Explorations I Shark Tank Competition, Robert and his team jumped at the opportunity to listen to student presentations, offer feedback on their product ideas, and discussed feasibility with each team.

SECU will also be conducting a Reality Fair at Old Mill High School. This event will allow students to make a series of real-world financial and economic decisions and then review those decisions with a financial planner from SECU.  Prior to the Reality Fair, SECU guests came to Old Mill to discuss the fair and prepare them for the choices they will be making.

Robert Gazic and the SECU team have been genuine, committed, and eager to assist with the financial education of Old Mill students. By providing real-world experiences, practical application of content, and hands-on activities, SECU has demonstrated an interest in the success of Old Mill students and those of Anne Arundel County.
