I am an AACPS: Teacher, Meade Heights Elementary School
Since I was first offered the position at Meade Heights Elementary School by Tiffany Foster I have felt welcomed and appreciated within the whole AACPS family. Tiffany was so welcoming and kind in her offer of the position. Even during the interview with Tiffany I felt so comfortable. After accepting the job and attending new teacher orientation, I received an email from Chuck Yocum, the Senior Manager of Business and Community Partnerships for AACPS, about the Bowie Baysox game that was to celebrate new teachers in this county. I had asked him for extra tickets because it was the night of my parents anniversary and I thought what a great way to celebrate than a sport my father raised my siblings and I to love and play. I wanted all 5 of their children their and all 4 grandchildren as well, so I asked Chuck for 2 more tickets as well. He not only gave me more tickets but was very kind about adding more. And to top the cake he worked a deal so that my parents could throw the first pitch before the game. What an exciting and unexpected gift that was for my whole family. He not only welcomed me but he welcomed my whole family. He went above and beyond for me; this is definitely something I want to include within my classroom for my students. I want them, and their families, to feel welcomed and celebrated.
