When the last school bell rings in June, thousands of teachers leave their classrooms ready to take a breath, unwind, and enjoy their well-deserved summer vacation. Most people think of summer as the time to relax, but for many 12-month employees in the AACPS Central Office, the start of summer vacation signals a count-down to the first day of school and the time to kick-up their work to make sure schools have everything they need for a successful school year.
Two departments whose work over the summer is essential to preparing our classrooms for the first day of school are the Department of Human Resources and the Office of Student Data. From making sure the right teacher is in every classroom to ensuring that those teachers have all of the data they need to focus on instruction, these two teams work tirelessly behind the scenes make sure that AACPS starts the first day on the right foot.
