A story of appreciation for Ms. Teresa Beilstein, from:
Dixon, an AACPS: Student, Grade 3, South Shore ES, Annapolis ES
My third grade teacher is awesome – that’s saying a lot because I’ve had some great teachers in my almost four years of school. We are only half way through the school year, but I have learned so much from her. Her name is Miss Beilstein at South Shore Elementary School, and I get so excited to see her every day because I know that I will have fun while I’m learning – except when she makes me do a lot of writing (every single day). I don’t really enjoy writing, but I just had to share how wonderful she is.
She’s known as the “Grammar Queen.” I have become a better writer because she’s an expert at helping her students write well (see, I said ‘well’ instead of ‘good’). It may not be my favorite, but I am now confident at writing and using punctuation and parts of speech. Every week we have to write her a letter about almost anything we want to tell her. I like that she lets us express what’s going on in our lives.
Miss B is super smart and she makes me feel super smart, too. We get to invent things in science all of the time. And my math skills – fractions, multiplication, division, word problems – have gotten so much better.
She does all these amazing things and is also very kind. Our class motto is “We are family.” She makes sure that we treat each other with respect. She also respects us by listening to us when we have problems and helping us to solve them. She’s also kind of strict, but her niceness shines brighter than that.
She is everything that I think a great teacher should be.
Miss B is such a great teacher that she might have me liking to write by the end of the year (wink, wink).
P.S. Shout out to Miss Moran and Mrs. Flavell at Annapolis ES, and Miss Stone at South Shore ES – the other great teachers in my life.
