THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS TO TAKE OATHS OF OFFICE ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County’s three newest Board members will take their oaths of office and begin their four-year terms on Monday, December 7, 2020.

The seating of Robert Silkworth (District 2), Corine Frank (District 3), and Joanna Bache Tobin (District 6) will complete the transition to a fully elected Board. The Board’s four other adult members – Candace C.W. Antwine (District 1), Melissa Ellis (District 4), Dana Schallheim (District 5), and Michelle Corkadel (District 7) – began six-year terms in December 2018. Student Member Drake Smith is serving a one-year term that expires in June.

Beginning on December 7, the Board’s adult members will all represent districts whose boundaries mirror County Council districts.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the new Board members will be sworn in by Clerk of the Circuit Court Scott Poyer in separate ceremonies attended by a limited number of family members. The ceremonies will take place in the Board Room of the Parham Building according to the following schedule:

  • Mr. Silkworth, 1 p.m.
  • Ms. Frank, 1:20 p.m.
  • Ms. Tobin, 1:40 p.m.

The ceremonies are not open to the public.

All three ceremonies will be broadcast live on AACPS-TV, which can be found on Channel 96 on Comcast and Broadstripe, and Channel 36 on Verizon. High definition broadcasts can be seen on Channel 996 on Comcast, Channel 496 on Broadstripe, and Channel 1961 on Verizon. They can also be viewed live on AACPS’ YouTube channel here.
