BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES NEARLY $57 MILLION IN CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS FOR THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Continuing to pave the way to updated and upgraded educational environments for students, the Board of Education today approved more than $57 million in contracts for construction and renovation work on projects at Edgewater, Tyler Heights, and Richard Henry Lee elementary schools.

The contracts, ranging from concrete to electrical, plumbing, masonry, and steel work, are the latest step in projects that will see revitalized facilities on all three sites. Richard Henry Lee is scheduled to completed in 2020, followed by Edgewater and Tyler Heights in 2021.

Today’s actions included:

  • $27.6 million for seven contracts at Edgewater Elementary School
  • $20.9 million for seven contracts at Tyler Heights Elementary School
  • $8.7 million for six contracts at Richard Henry Lee Elementary School

At its August 22 meeting, the Board approved nearly $18 million in contracts for Richard Henry Lee Elementary School. Students at that school are attending classes in space at Corkran Middle School over the next two years. Students at Edgewater and Tyler Heights elementary schools will remain in their buildings through the construction process.
