Supporting Our Schools Beyond the Tax Dollar

Anne Arundel County Public Schools, currently the fifth largest school system in Maryland, is the fastest growing district in the state, currently serving close to 80,000 students. We are dedicated to providing our students with programs of access, equity, and excellence and strive to create learning opportunities that prepare students for the world they will enter upon graduation. As the needs for our students continue to grow, AACPS must look to outside resources to supplement limited public funding. Since 2008:

  • The number of AACPS students who qualify for free and reduced meals has increased by 59%;
  • The number of English Language Learners in AACPS has doubled;
  • AACPS has added 9 Magnet schools, launched 12 Signature Programs, and implemented Advanced Learner Programs (ALPs) in all 79 elementary schools;

The 21st Century Education Foundation is a 501-(c)3 non-profit organization created to match the needs of AACPS students, teachers, and families to the financial resources of the surrounding businesses and community.
