I am an AACPS: Parent, Southgate Elementary School
When my husband and I decided to move to Anne Arundel County 4 years ago we made the final decision to purchase our house because of the staff at Southgate Elementary. The front office staff were so friendly and allowed us to tour the school. Due to their kindness and professionalism we made the transition with spectacular results. Our first teacher at Southgate was Mrs. Boyd. She made such a positive and rewarding impact on our oldest daughter. What an amazing first year that was for us all. She is now in 3rd grade and reading above grade level and has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll. This year our youngest daughter, who is quite different from our oldest, not only had an enjoyable year at Southgate but also with Mrs. Boyd. Like her big sister, she is thriving educationally and maturing thanks to her being allowed the opportunity to learn in an environment that is both nurturing and academically stimulating.
We look forward to 1st and 4th grade for our children, but we will always look back with gratitude and fondness about our first meeting with the administrative staff who went above and beyond to ensure us that Southgate Elementary was the best choice for our family. We will never forget our first teacher, Mrs. Boyd who guided us as parents and helped our children grow in the most amazing ways. Southgate Elementary School from the Administration, our awesome Principal Bonnie Meyers and Assistant Principal Colleen McFarland, all the teachers, and additional support staff deserve to be acknowledged and rewarded for all they do and continue to do for their parents and students.
