I am an AACPS: Business Partner

After working in my past position with the Frederick Keys and having a relationship with Frederick County Public Schools, it has been a pleasure working with those involved in business partnership within Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) upon my start with the Bowie Baysox in 2014.

Working with Chuck Yocum and AACPS, we have coordinated numerous events while changing the focus and theme of certain elements of how we work with students. Within the Baysox, the best example is the reinvention of our “Education Days”—a field trip for Prince George and Anne Arundel county students that has been going on for the last decade. By turning them into STEM Education Days in 2015, we have given the event a better focus, grown the amount of students and schools involved and made a special opportunity for high schools students to present experiments to those here at the game.

We have partnered in new ways as well to do more at the ballpark for high school students and new teachers. This season will be our inaugural college fair as we hope to have upwards of 30 schools here for our May 19, 2016 game. And we had a great function for new teachers at a Baysox playoff game in 2015 that was the most highly attended new teacher function of the year.

Lastly, we have worked to provide in-roads from businesses we work with to be involved with the schools. Over the last two years we have referred double digit contacts towards AACPS —many of whom are now involved in various ways within the school system.
