This program helps young girls to gain determination, and self-confidence. I learned a lot from that program, and go there almost every Friday to see the new S.E.L.F girls. My favorite teachers are Ms. Bradshaw (Behavioral\u00a0Intervention Specialist)\u00a0and Mrs. Dillard (Parent Volunteer).<\/p>\n<h3>What is the S.E.L.F. Program?<\/h3>\n<p>S.E.L.F. is an empowerment program for 5th grade girls designed to encourage self-awareness,\u00a0self-confidence, self-determination, self-worth, and self-sacrifice.\u00a0We meet with the girls\u00a0most\u00a0Fridays for 2 1\/2 hours\u00a0afterschool.\u00a0 During this time they participate in experiential learning activities, self-discovery\u00a0projects, and team building challenges. Each year the girls participate in a &#8220;Day in the Life&#8221; collegiate\u00a0experience at Morgan State University and\u00a0create PSA&#8217;s focusing on Girl Power.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;In the fifth grade, my school Tyler Heights had a program called S.E.L.F which still continues now.
