My most cherished reward is the positive impact I have on creating and supporting individuals as they strive for greatness. I have always had a passion for impacting the lives of people and specifically children. Since I was a young child, I have either tutored or mentored children. Over the course of my life, I have always worked on empowering children to reach a high degree of excellence.

Over the course of my 15+ years as an educator, I have had a number of opportunities and experiences that have allowed me to further my passion. Serving as an Equity Liaison in AACPS is one of them. This job has afforded me the opportunity to not only impact the lives of students, but to also impact the lives of adults, which in turn brings the impact back to the students. I absolutely love my role as an Equity Liaison. It allows me to live my passion. This role has permitted me to teach potential educators at the community college level. Again, my coaching will have an indirect impact on the students these future educators will come in contact with. My hope is to spread my love for education and for impacting the lives of children to individuals who also have similar passions. I have also been given the opportunity to work directly with parents, whether at Frank Hebron-Harmon Elementary School or Anne Arundel Community College, by leading Family Involvement Seminars with parents as they seek to develop a stronger relationship with their children using a Growth Mindset. My role as an Equity Liaison takes me beyond the classroom and the 25 young minds that were assigned to my classroom. My role allows me to work more globally with the entire school community, district, and county.

I am very fortunate to work in the field that I was born to do. When you are passionate about the work you do, it is not considered work, but rather your purpose. I live by the quote by Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Leading by example and with passion is how I hope to empower others to reach their highest potential, while creating a chain reaction, for years to come. Having a Growth Mindset approach, regardless of age, will allow individuals to bloom in leaps and bounds. I am thankful that my role as an Equity Liaison has allowed me to further stick with my passion. My hope is to ignite that passion in others.

“I absolutely love my role as an Equity Liaison.
