We help encourage collaborative relationships throughout our county in three ways:\u00a0by offering support for schools&#8217; outreach to parents and families, providing direct support and programming for families, and building community connections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support for schools\u2019 outreach to parents and families:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consulting with schools on request about increasing family and community involvement<\/li>\n<li>Developing <a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.aacps.org\/dept\/studentservices\/pages\/school%20and%20family%20partnerships.aspx\">Parent Workshops to Go<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Training and support for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/admin\/templates\/familyresource.asp?articleid=525&amp;zoneid=19\">volunteer programs<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Publication of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/admin\/templates\/familyresource.asp?articleid=525&amp;zoneid=19\">Parent Link<\/a>, a monthly newsletter<\/li>\n<li>Publication of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/html\/parents\/0par_cal.pdf\">Parent Wall Calendar<\/a>, distributed to students at the beginning of the school year<\/li>\n<li>Training and support for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/admin\/templates\/familyresource.asp?articleid=1275&amp;zoneid=19\">bilingual facilitators<\/a> who support positive connections between schools and language-minority families<\/li>\n<li>Coordination the Superintendent\u2019s Parent Involvement Advisory Council (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/admin\/templates\/familyresource.asp?articleid=228&amp;zoneid=19\">PIAC<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Direct support and programming for families<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Family involvement conferences, in the fall and spring<\/li>\n<li>Five <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/cable\/cableschedule.asp\">AACPS-TV shows<\/a>, two in English and three in Spanish<\/li>\n<li>Superintendent\u2019s representative to the Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs (<a href=\"http:\/\/aaccpta.org\/\">AACCPTA<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Community Connections<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Partnering with faith-based groups to sponsor Back to School Expos<\/li>\n<li>Connecting schools with community and faith-based groups to sponsor Weekend Food Programs<\/li>\n<li>Coordination of Harvest for the Hungry \u2013 Kids Helping Kids<\/li>\n<li>Partnership with DSS to provide backpacks and school supplies for the Back to School Program<\/li>\n<li>Support in matching schools and community groups to provide mentoring, tutoring, volunteering or other support, based on school needs<\/li>\n<li>Superintendent\u2019s representative to the Citizen Advisory Committee Executive Panel (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/admin\/templates\/cac2.asp?articleid=1158&amp;zoneid=54\">CAC<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit our website, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacps.org\/family\">www.aacps.org\/family<\/a>, for more details and contact information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This month, to kick off the start of the school year, we wanted to welcome everyone back and let you know that we are here to help!
