This conversation is with Morgan Gingerich, Dance Teacher at Annapolis Middle.

Hello interview blog readers! Today the group will be talking to Coach G.

Hi Coach G, we are the podcast team. What school or college did you go to in order to be be a dance teacher?

Hi podcast team! I attended Towson University and majored in Dance performance and education.

What was your backup plan if dance didn’t work out for you?

(Chuckle) I didn’t really have a backup plan, I had a pre-plan though. Before I decided on dance I was going to study Marine Biology. That didn’t end up working out so dance it is!

What is one thing you like about AMS?

What do I like about AMS? I like that everyone has a lot of energy and is always ready to go to class. All the kids here are really energetic and fun.

What led you to start dancing in general?

Oh, that’s a good question! Ok, so when I was little, (I was probably 7 years old) in my neighborhood a brand new dance studio had just opened up and there were advertisements for it all over the place. So, my mother signed me and my 8 cousins up because we all begged to try it. I have been dancing since I was tiny.

Here’s the next question: are your cousins still dancing or is it just you?

One of my cousins actually still dances, she’s a professional dancer, but other than that it’s just me!

How was seventh grade for you?

When I was in seventh grade, I changed schools and went to Crofton Middle School. It wasn’t the best ever, because I had just started at a brand new school. But by the end of seventh grade, I started dancing, and that made everything good for me.

What were you teaching before you came to AMS?

Ok, so AMS was my first school, and this is my 3rd year teaching. I’ve always been here, but outside AMS I taught dance at a million other places for after-school activities.

What was your childhood like?

My childhood was fun, even though I am an only child. I do have a million cousins like I talked about earlier and they all lived like right across the street from me, so it was like I was growing up with a bunch of brothers and sisters. So, I always had people to hang out with and talk to all throughout growing up.

Do you like puzzles?

What kind of puzzles like puzzles in a box or games?

Any kind of puzzle, games, etc.

My favorite kind of puzzles are jigsaw puzzles. I could do them all day. In fact, I’m currently working on one right now and when it’s done it will be a guitar. I also enjoy phone game puzzles like Candy Crush.

What is your favorite sport or TV show?

I’m going to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of sports. Maybe, if I had to pick one I’d say volleyball. But my favorite show is the new Game of Thrones that just came out!

Thank you!

The group appreciates you reading, be sure to come back!

Nareh A, Student intern

In this interview, AMS’s Student podcast team interviews the dance instructor: Coach G.
