We are excited to spotlight Cherith White. Cherith White is a 22-23 Rising Star Teacher.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ms. White was nominated by the school\u2019s principal, Natalie Marston. The Central Special School Special Education teacher is a Bob Jones University alum.<\/span><\/p>\n

We had an opportunity to talk with Cherith about being recognized as a Rising Star Teacher.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Describe who you are in 5 words or less.<\/b><\/p>\n

Driven, determined, energetic, and upbeat.<\/p>\n

What was your motivation to go into education?<\/b><\/p>\n

I always wanted to be a teacher since I was five. I’m <\/span><\/span>also the oldest of five kids and my mom used to home school us. She often let me help my younger brothers do their work. That was important to my decision for my career.<\/p>\n

What would you tell yourself about your potential as an educator?<\/b><\/p>\n

I would tell myself that I can do it and I have the potential to do it.<\/p>\n

What one thing do you love about working in your school?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

I feel like working in my school we’re all a big family. The one cause we focus on is that the kids get a great education.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite memory of your family and friends supporting you on your journey as an educator?<\/b><\/p>\n

My friends supporting me is in college is my memory. I had mock lessons and IEPs and my friends would sit there and let me teach them my lesson. I<\/span><\/span>t helped make me feel more comfortable in the early days of studying education.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Thinking about the future of education, what are you most excited about for schools?<\/b><\/p>\n

I feel that there needs to be more inclusion, especially when it comes to students with disabilities. I see it happening little by little.<\/p>\n

What is one hidden talent you have that no one, or few people, knows about and would surprise them?<\/b><\/p>\n

I like baking desserts.<\/p>\n

If you had to make a time capsule about this year as a rising star teacher and you had to include an item, an image, a quote and a song\/melody, what would you include?<\/b><\/p>\n

An image of one of my students <\/span><\/span>working together with other students doing a puzzle, because when the student came here, he wouldn’t work with others and finally did it. My quote, “just take it one minute and one second at a time.” Enjoy the moments. For the song, this is going to seem a bit juvenile, maybe, but it’s Cookie Monster “C is for Cookie.” It’s the song that calms my class down. The item is a carrot because my students call me Ms. Carrot. They struggle to say Ms. Cherith, so they call me Ms. Carrot and everybody of knows me as Ms. Carrot here.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What is one reason why someone should choose to become a teacher?<\/b><\/p>\n

Someone should become a teacher if they really want to make an impact on the next generation and help them grow.<\/p>\n
