{"id":14809,"date":"2019-05-20T15:13:32","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T19:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aacpsschools.org\/development\/?p=14809"},"modified":"2019-08-27T14:40:05","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T18:40:05","slug":"laura_booth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aacpsschools.org\/development\/2019\/05\/20\/laura_booth\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazing Support from the Special Education Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:20px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-sep-none fusion-title-size-two\"><h2 class=\"title-heading-left\"><em>A story of appreciation for\u00a0Marley Glen<\/em><\/h2><\/div><h3><strong>Laura Booth, an AACPS:<\/strong>\u00a0Parent<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0<em>Marley Glen<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-two-third fusion-layout-column fusion-spacing-yes\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:20px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><p>My son has severe autism and is non-verbal.\u00a0 At the end of August 2018 my son was admitted inpatient at Kennedy Krieger for severe behavioral issues.\u00a0 He spent 7 months there.\u00a0 Towards the end of his stay our family also had to move.\u00a0 We actually ended up moving March 23rd and my son was released March 26th.\u00a0 He not only had to come out to a brand new home,\u00a0 but also a brand new school.\u00a0 I started speaking with Anne Arundel County schools before we had even found a new home.\u00a0 Everyone I spoke to was amazing.\u00a0 The special needs department immediately went into action to prepare for the arrival of my son.\u00a0 They even went and visited him at the hospital to get to know him.\u00a0 I was beyond impressed and so thankful.\u00a0 My son started his new school,\u00a0 Marley Glen School on March 27th.\u00a0 The school and his teacher welcomed him with open arms and has treated him as if he were her own.\u00a0 Everyone on his team has been wonderful to work with and over the past two weeks my son has even started to repeat and sing a lot of words.
