Nowhere is this more true than with the dedicated volunteers from Severn Elementary School who lead STAIR&#8211;Start The Adventure In Reading.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">STAIR is a proven reading and mentoring program designed to provide early intervention for at-risk second grade students. Students work one-on-one with STAIR tutors twice a week after school for one hour. The program not only works to increase reading fluency and comprehension, it also tries to provide a caring environment to promote each student\u2019s sense of self-worth and esteem.
