for Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Bethany Siwajek<\/h2>\n<p><strong>I am an AACPS:<\/strong> AVID Site Coordinator, Marley Middle School | <strong>2018 Teacher of the Year\u00a0Semi-Finalist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-13443\" https:\/\/aacpsschools.org\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Bethany_Siwajek-258x300.jpg 258w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/>Learning became my passion at a very young age.\u00a0 My parents helped me in developing my vocabulary and reading skills before I even started pre-school.\u00a0 This early exposure to education led to my falling in love with learning.\u00a0 This passion is and always will be the foundation of my teaching style.<\/p>\n<p>To instill this same passion for learning in my students, I build relationships with students and guide them in building relationships with each other.\u00a0 It demonstrates to them that I am invested in their learning.\u00a0 Frequent team building activities develop trust and a sense of community within the classroom.\u00a0 I utilize this positive climate to engage all students in real-word, rigorous, and college-readiness lessons.\u00a0 These real-world opportunities scaffold learning for all students to prepare them to be 21st Century Learners.<\/p>\n<p>Being passionate for learning and teaching is not limited to my classroom.\u00a0 I demonstrate this passion during collaborative planning by learning from my colleagues as well as sharing useful ideas with them.\u00a0 I believe in expanding my knowledge and resources by attending professional development opportunities at my school, within the county, and conferences at the state or even national level.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that all good teachers are involved outside of their classroom.\u00a0 On the night of an evening school event, you will find me there supporting the students.\u00a0 It is important for students to know that I am invested in them as a person with diverse interests and not just in the classroom.\u00a0 I attend sporting events, drama shows, and music concerts to name a few.\u00a0 At these events, you will find me interacting with students, parents, and community members.\u00a0 According to the ancient African proverb, \u201cIt takes a village to raise a child\u201d, I truly believe that education is a partnership, and that \u201cvillage\u201d is the school community of teachers, staff, parents, family, and members of the community.\u00a0 Together, we will prepare all students for a rich future and a passion for learning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;It is
