I am an AACPS:<\/strong>\u00a0Student, Glen Burnie High School<\/p>\n Even though I am only a freshman in the BioMedical Allied Health Program (BMAH), I have already discovered so much about the entire field of medicine, from the anatomy to public medical crises and soft skills. BMAH–a prestigious magnet program of choice– is completely centered around medicine while still providing a rigorous curriculum. My career aspiration is pediatric emergency medicine, and I am benefiting greatly from the education I am receiving from the wonderful teachers and curriculum that BMAH provides. I have been interested in medicine for as long as I can remember, but BMAH has really helped me to refine the type of physician I aspire to become. In BMAH, students explore medicine hands-on through job shadows and live-streamed surgeries, such as the job shadows I experienced at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and a live view of a fundoplication operation. The opportunities BMAH provides is just unbelievable for high school students! BMAH is truly a family, from the extremely helpful teachers to the incredible students. In BMAH, there is no such concept of bullying, which leads to an excellent environment that promotes student achievement. I am very grateful that I can take 11 classes, six of which being honors classes. I am receiving education about public health, biomedical science, engineering, overall health, and psychology–all in the first two periods of the day!
