Congratulations on being selected as a 2024 Teacher of the Year semi-finalist! Please refer to this page for information about what needs to be completed during Round Two of the application process.<\/p>\n

1. Online Application<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>

S<\/strong>ubmit your Round Two application packet using the form below<\/strong>. This application includes the following sections:<\/p>\n

  2. Teaching Philosophy<\/li>\n
  3. The Teaching Profession<\/li>\n
  4. Education Issues & Trends<\/li>\n
  5. Community Involvement<\/li>\n
  6. Three\u00a0Letters of Support (1 page maximum per letter)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Complete applications must be\u00a0submitted online by\u00a03:00 pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    NOTE: You will not be able to\u00a0save your progress before you submit your application.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>We\u00a0strongly recommended writing\u00a0your\u00a0application in a Word document and then copying the text\u00a0into this form.<\/p>\n

    2. Classroom Visits<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>

    We will be conducting classroom visits for Round Two of the 2024 Teacher of the Year program.\u00a0 Each AACPS Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist will be visited by members of the Selection committee for a 20-30 minute lesson.\u00a0 Please record this lesson during the judge\u2019s visit<\/strong>, so that it may be available for other members of the selection committee, if needed. Then, you will share a link to your video using this Google Form<\/a> by Monday, February 12, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    How should I record the visit?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
    You may record your lesson using a cell phone, camera, or any other video recording device<\/strong>. We recommend asking a colleague or student to operate the camera\/device during your lesson.<\/p>\n

    The camera should remain in one place during the lesson (it does not need to move with you). You may want to “test” different positions before recording your lesson to find the best location to set up the camera. With a few practice videos, both you and your students should be more comfortable in front of the camera.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    I have my video... now what?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
    Now that you have recorded your lesson, you will need to upload your video and share a link with the selection committee. We recommend using YouTube.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    3. Set the permission for your video to “Unlisted.”

      By default, YouTube has set a limit of 15 minutes for videos, but you should be able to verify your account (to prove you are not a robot uploading SPAM) and then upload a longer video. Click here for step-by-step directions.\u00a0<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

      How do I share my video with the judges?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
      Once you have recorded your lesson video and have uploaded your video recording to YouTube<\/strong>, click here<\/strong><\/a> to share a link to your presentation\/video with the review committee. Please upload your video by Monday, February 13, 2023<\/strong>.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

      You will be contacted by a member of the Teacher of the Year Selection Committee to schedule the visit.<\/p>\n

      Please send your current and second semester teaching schedule (including A\/B and A\/B\/C details along with the actual times of the classes you teach) to our lead judge, Dr. Nuria Williams at nwilliams1@aacps.org<\/a> by Tuesday, November 29, 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n
