Submitting Your Recommendation
Please use the form below to submit your letter of recommendation by 3:00pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
*NOTE for Independent School Principals: Please use this form to submit your recommendation. It is understood that your candidate is not teaching in AACPS.
Should you be interested in nominating a teacher from your school for this award, they must:
- Have completed five years of teaching in AACPS
- Remain as a teacher during their year of tenure as AACPS Teacher of the Year (2024-2025)
Your recommendation will be added to your nominee’s Teacher of the Year application (to be completed by the teacher nominee also by Sunday, October 8th). You and your nominee will receive automatic emails confirming that your recommendation has been submitted.
Tips for Writing a Strong Teacher of the Year Recommendation
The principal’s recommendation is a critical component of nomination package. When writing your recommendation (500 words maximum), you may want to include:
- Anecdotes demonstrating the teacher’s effectiveness in the classroom;
- Testimonials/quotes from students, staff, families, or other community members;
- Evidence of the teacher’s impact and commitment to the school community;
- Description of a student’s experience in this teacher’s classroom.
You will not be able to save your progress before you submit this form. We strongly recommended writing your recommendation in a Word document and then copying the text into this form.
