Kelsey Kramer

I am an AACPS: Teacher, Linthicum Elementary | 2020 Teacher of the Year Honoree

Welcome to Camp Kramer! We are a family that starts each day with hugs, high fives, and a bonfire (community circle). This is a community where everyone feels comfortable to share their stories and confident enough to take risks. As individual members we strive for progress and not perfection. We strive to meet and exceed expectations that are put forth. I say “we” because in our room there is no “I”. WE learn together, WE struggle together, and WE succeed together.

In my years of teaching, I have grown immensely as an educator through various avenues, whether that be getting my master’s in special education, gaining wonderful mentors, or learning from my mistakes. One idea that hasn’t shifted in those years is my philosophy. Students who feel loved and empowered in the classroom can exceed all expectations. I have seen this time and time again with my students but also experienced this firsthand when I was a 2nd grade student who was a struggling reader. Having students feel cared for, appreciated, and know that they are heard and important gives them the confidence they need to make tremendous growth.

I have rigorous goals for each of my students – no matter where they are starting. The goals that I set for my students require careful analysis and meticulously planned lessons. Each day I differentiate my teaching to meet my students’ diverse needs and make strong connections to their lives. Walking into Camp Kramer, you can expect to hear singing, see us dancing our way through solving a math problem, the use of Whole Brain Teaching elements, and students teaching others by showing their strategies and thinking. I am their coach when they need redirection and practice to hone their skills, and their cheerleader when they need extra encouragement.

In Camp Kramer we celebrate differences, we adapt, and we succeed!
