BOARD OF EDUCATION APPOINTS AD HOC COMMITTEE TO LEAD SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County has appointed a three-member committee to lead Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ search for a new superintendent over the course of the coming school year.

Board Member Stacy Korbelak will chair the committee, with Board Members Patricia Nalley and Kevin Jackson also serving on it. The committee plans to meet periodically throughout the course of the coming year. Meeting information will be posted as it becomes available on the Board page of the AACPS website, www.aacps.org/html/BoardOfEducation/default.asp

“This committee will spearhead the process that will ultimately result in the appointment of the person who will lead our children forward over the coming years,” Board President Teresa Milio Birge said. “It is important that this process involves constituents from every part of our county and who represent the variety of interests and issues that our school system must address, and our Board is committed to hearing from them all.”

Mamie J. Perkins is serving as interim superintendent through June 30. The Board has not yet decided on the logistics of a search, or whether to hire a firm to conduct the search.
