BOARD OF EDUCATION SCHEDULED TO REVIEW 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR AT NEXT MEETING

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will review the 2020-2021 School Year Calendar recommended to it by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Calendar Committee at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

As recommended by the Calendar Committee, the 2020-2021 School Year would begin for students on Monday, August 31, 2020, and would tentatively end on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. The recommended calendar restores a six-day Easter/Spring Break, and maintains all of the closing dates (where applicable) contained in the current school year calendar.

AACPS’ Calendar Committee consists of representatives from all four employee bargaining units, the Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs, the Citizen Advisory Committee, the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils, and key AACPS departments and offices. Its recommended calendar can be found here.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the Board will also be briefed on the results of the recent calendar survey it designed and administered.

Wednesday’s meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Parham Building, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis. The Board will meet in a public session at 8:30 a.m. for the sole purpose of voting to immediately go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public. The public session of the meeting will resume at 10 a.m.
