BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES PLAN TO LEAVE SCHOOL MEAL PRICES UNCHANGED FOR 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County tonight unanimously approved a plan to leave school meal prices at the same level as they have been for six years.

Under the plan, full-price breakfast at all levels for the 2019-2020 school year will remain at $1.50, elementary school lunches will cost $2.75, and secondary school lunches will cost $3.00. The price of milk will remain at 55 cents. Reduced-price breakfast and meal prices at all levels will also remain unchanged.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools meal prices have not changed since the 2014-2015 school year. The school system’s Food and Nutrition Services receives no county funding at present, and instead relies on revenue from federal reimbursements (57 percent), food sales (39 percent), and state funding (4 percent) to operate. This year, AACPS will serve approximately 5.9 million lunches, 3.4 million breakfasts, 115,000 dinners, and 100,000 summer meals.
