NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL RAISING AWARENESS OF DRUG ABUSE WITH ‘HAUNTED HOUSE OF ADDICTIONS’

Hoping to continue to educate the public about the dangers of drug use and abuse, Northeast High School’s Human Performance Signature Program will host a “Haunted House of Addictions” as part of its annual Trunk or Treat event this weekend.

The haunted house is a part of a free public family event for all ages that features decorated car trunks that children can visit for treats, and food trucks that will have a variety of food available for purchase. It runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 14 at Northeast High School, located at 1121 Duvall Highway in Pasadena.

For all the fun and games, though, the message of the haunted house is incredibly serious. Rooms in the house portray a person’s real life struggles with addiction, and are based on the tortured soul of an addict.

“This is not a typical scary haunted house with fake props,” said Brandi Dorsey, Northeast High School’s Signature Program Facilitator. “For us to continue to convey this crucial message, we must do it authentically because we owe it to our children to be honest about the perils of drugs.”

Due to the nature of the content, the haunted house is not suitable for children under 12.
