TWO COUNTY SCHOOLS TO CLOSE ONE DAY EARLY BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Interim State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jack Smith has approved Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ request to allow Benfield and West Annapolis elementary schools to end the school year one day early for students in order to prepare for summer construction projects.

The one-day waiver means that the school year for students at those two schools will end on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. The 2015-2016 school year for students at all other schools is scheduled to end on Thursday, June 16, 2016.

Teachers and staff at the two schools that are closing early will use the additional day for packing up materials in order to facilitate construction or moves. Those two schools will also open the 2016-2017 school year on August 23, 2016, one day later than other schools.
