7th ANNUAL COOL SCHOOLS PLUNGE RESCHEDULED FOR February 3, 2016

Baltimore, MD – Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD) today announced that due to this weekend’s historic blizzard and school closings, the 7th annual Cool Schools Plunge has been rescheduled for February 3 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, Md. The Cool Schools Plunge is an event designed exclusively for school teams who want to brave the Bay and support Special Olympics Maryland. It’s a great way to show just how cool your school is, and to earn service learning credits at the same time. The Cool Schools Plunge was created as part of Plunge week, a series of winter-time fundraising events that culminates with the 20th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park on Saturday, January 30.

“The Cool Schools Plunge has become a huge part of our week leading up to our time-honored Maryland tradition of the Polar Bear Plunge, and we are thrilled to give those students who worked so hard to raise funds for Special Olympics the opportunity to participate in this rescheduled event,” said Jim Schmutz, Special Olympics Maryland President & CEO. “We are thankful to all the county school system administrators, students, faculty, staff, volunteers and friends for their support and understanding, and look forward to seeing the students plunge on   February 3!”

The Cool Schools Plunge, originally scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2016, was postponed due to the weekend’s historic blizzard and school closings.

Registration is open at www.PlungeMD.com.
