STUDENT MEMBER OF THE BOARD (SMOB) INFORMATION NIGHT POSTPONED

Due to the ongoing weather issues, the information night for high school juniors interested in the 2016-2107 student member of the Board of Education (SMOB) of Anne Arundel County, scheduled for January 27, 2016, has been postponed.

No new date has yet been set.

Anne Arundel County’s student member on the Board of Education is the only one in the nation on a local board who has full voting rights.  The nomination process will open on the date the information night is held and will end at 4 p.m. on February 24. Applications from candidates are due by 4 p.m. on March 4.

The following are other key dates in the process:

  • March 8: Applicant interviews, selection of three finalists
  • March 30: Meet The Candidates Night, 6:30 p.m., Parham Building
  • April 15: Election of Student Member of the Board

The candidate elected by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils will have his or her name forwarded to Governor Larry Hogan, who must make the appointment.
