FAMILIES, EDUCATORS TO RECEIVE TIPS FOR SUPPORTING STUDENT READINESS, ACHIEVEMENT AT FAMILY INVOLVEMENT CONFERENCE

Parents and educators looking for information and resources to support student readiness and enhance student achievement can find them at the Family Involvement Conference on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

The conference is sponsored by Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Office of School and Family Partnerships in collaboration with the Early Childhood Coalition of Anne Arundel County. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Anne Arundel Community College, located at 101 College Parkway in Arnold.

The theme of the conference is “Ready, Set, Achieve!” Superintendent George Arlotto will join participants for breakfast, and Frank Kros will deliver the keynote address titled “Change Your Language, Change Their Lives.” Kros is president of the highly-regarded professional development and family advocacy group, The Upside Down Organization.

Participants will be able to choose three workshops from a list of 15. Sample workshops include: “Get Anchored in Literacy”; “Tips and Tricks for Engaging Adolescents in Reading and Writing”; “Math Brains @ Work”; “Homework Help @ Your Public Library”; “Watch Me Grow, Here I Go: First Steps to Early Learning”; “Finding the Magic in Behavior Management; and “Using Questioning with Primary Learners.”
