SEVEN OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL JOHN CESCHINI NAMED OUTSTANDING LEADER IN ARTS EDUCATION

The Arts Education in Maryland Schools (AEMS) Alliance has named Seven Oaks Elementary School Principal John Ceschini as one of four winners of the 2014 Alvin and Louise Myerberg Arts Leadership Award. The award is given annually to principals who support and encourage arts in education and/or arts integration and utilize that approach to prepare 21st Century learners with 21st Century skills.

Under Ceschini’s guidance, Seven Oaks Elementary School has been designated a STEAM School where teaching and learning happens by combining arts integration and STEM practices.

“This is an incredible honor which everyone in our building shares,” said Ceschini, whose school’s motto is “Full STEAM Ahead to student learning and achievement!” “Our staff, our students, and our parents have been incredible collaborators in helping to shape young minds through the powerful world of the arts.”

As a winner, Ceschini received a trophy and an award of $500 to support the school’s arts and arts integration programs.

Fifteen nominees across nine counties were recognized at the luncheon. Other county nominees were Dennis Kelly, principal of Annapolis Middle School, and Karen Bailey, principal of Piney Orchard Elementary.
