Forty-one middle and high school students from across the county have been recognized as being among the best in Maryland by earning All-State status from the Maryland Music Educators Association.
The students were among more than 6,000 who auditioned for Junior Band, Senior Band, Junior Orchestra, Senior Orchestra, Jazz Band, Junior Chorus, Senior Women’s Chorus, and Senior Mixed Chorus. Students who earn All-State status – 920 this year – rehearse together and perform in concert.
The Junior and Senior bands, Senior Orchestra, Senior Mixed Chorus, and Women’s Chorus performed Feb. 22 and 23 at Morgan State University. The Junior Orchestra and Junior Chorus will perform on March 9 at Parkville High School, while the Jazz Band will perform March 29 at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
