Rochelle Dandridge and Alantae Gibson, both eighth-graders at the J. Albert Adams Academy, were among eight top finishers of the Maryland State Conference NAACP’s Black History Month Student Competition.
Rochelle, who won a first-place prize, and Alantae who earned a third-place prize, each received monetary awards and certificates for their entries. Students were required to write an essay or poem related to the theme, “NAACP Moving from Past to the Future: The Next 100 Years.”
The awards were announced on February 22 at a ceremony at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore.
