BOARD OF EDUCATION TO HEAR PRESENTATION ON AP, IB, AND HONORS COURSES AT OCTOBER 23, 2013, MEETING

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will hear a presentation on data trends related to Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Honors courses at its next regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

The school system’s 2012-2017 Strategic Plan sets indicators of success for enrollment and achievement in the courses. At Wednesday’s meeting, AACPS staff will address the progress toward meeting those indicators as well as strategies being employed or envisioned to increase enrollment, engagement, and achievement in rigorous courses.

The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Parham Building, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis. The Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. to vote to go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public. The general session of the meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Also at the meeting, the Board will review the quarterly Construction Status Report, which details the progress on major construction projects throughout the county.

A complete agenda for the meeting accompanies this news release. More information on agenda items can be found on the AACPS website, www.aacps.org, in the Board Docs section under the Board of Education tab.
