Bruce Morgenstern and the Anne Arundel–Annapolis Community Emergency Response Team (AAACERT) have redefined what it means to be a dedicated partner. Mr. Morgenstern continually has Meade students at the forefront of his interests as he helps to build the pipeline of next generation professionals working in homeland security and the defense industry. Mr. Morgenstern co-authored the Meade High School 3-Year Strategic Plan to not only support the new AACPS Strategic Plan and the Signature Program Green Standard but also to ensure that the students of Meade High School have access to every opportunity and the support they need to address the information revolution of the 21st century.

Meade High School Students work towards their Community Emergency Response Team certification.

In addition, through Mr. Morgenstern’s affiliation with AAACERT, he has supported Meade High School by offering a Teen Basic CERT course, which has provided 17 Meade students with a nationally recognized certification in emergency preparedness and response. Mr. Morgenstern has also recruited new Homeland Security Signature ICST members specializing in the cyber security industry to ensure that Meade High School has input from those that not only have access to the cutting-edge technologies and approaches within the field but are also developing and defending these new operating environments. He ensures that students are prepared to enter these fields by coordinating and offering resume builder workshops to students and teachers as well as job interview strategies and support. Beyond supporting the students of Meade High School as they plan and prepare for their future careers, Mr. Morgenstern is dedicated to the preparedness and response of the residents of Anne Arundel County towards events that can cripple a county’s infrastructure and resident well being.

What is the Anne Arundel–Annapolis Community Emergency Response Team?

AAACERT is a 501(c)3 non-profit, whose mission is to train community members in emergency preparedness and response, and in the event of an emergency or disaster, if activated by the City of Annapolis or Anne Arundel County Offices of Emergency Management, to support the response to local communities.  AAACERT members are trained in emergency preparedness, basic first aid, search and rescue, small fire suppression, how to organize in a disaster scenario, the psychology of a disaster, and terrorism.  Members also support as call takers and shelter volunteers, and in support of traffic management.  They are also the City of Annapolis Parade Marshals and support area non-profits with traffic and parking management.  For more information, go to www.aaacert.org.
