Julia D. (Grade 9)

I am an AACPS: Student, Glen Burnie High School

In November of 2016, I applied to the Biomedical Allied Health (BMAH) Magnet Program at Glen Burnie High School, a program geared toward preparing high school students for future careers in the medical field. As I aspire to become a pediatric hematologist/oncologist and study at Harvard Medical School, this program is absolutely incredible and a true blessing; BMAH provides me with an astounding edge over other students who are applying to Harvard Medical School, a college with a measly acceptance rate of nearly 6%. Additionally, the BMAH internship that is to come will provide me with exceptional experience that I can apply to my future career in the medical field. Even as a freshman, I have already been presented with many incredible opportunities that strongly relate to my future medical aspirations, such as the Anne Arundel Medical Center Job Shadow, the live fundoplication procedure, the Tech Mania Job Shadow, and the Maryland Shock Trauma Job Shadow, just to name a few. In addition to the unique job shadows, BMAH has provided me with many opportunities for competing this year, particularly Technology MESA Competition, 4 Way Test Rotary Competition, and the Science Fair. Overall, I am very grateful for the amazing opportunities that BMAH has already presented to me, and I sincerely look forward to the amazing experiences that are to come as I advance through the program and, eventually, medical school.
