I am an AACPS: Employee | Alum, South River High School, Center of Applied Technology 1982

Throughout my journey at AACPS I have been blessed to have amazing teachers and mentors.  As a student I have great memories of teachers at Davidsonville Elementary, Annapolis Junior High, Central Middle, South River High School, and the Center of Applied Technology South.  At each level I can think of examples of how teachers molded me.  I am thankful for all that they taught me about academics and myself.  There is however, one teacher that stands out. This very special teacher inspired me to pursue teaching as a career.

As a freshman at South River High School I decided to explore the programs that the Center of Applied Technology South had to offer. After trying several classes in the exploratory program I knew that cosmetology was the one for me.  This is where I met Mr. Louis Glorioso.  He was an amazing teacher that continues to drive me!  As a student in Cosmetology class I thought that I was destined to be a stylist, but Mr. Glorioso saw something else in me.  Through his guidance and the opportunities that he gave me in the classroom I discovered that I could combine my passion for cosmetology and teaching.  And so my journey began. After graduating from high school with my cosmetology license I continued my education to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher.  I was teaching at a private cosmetology academy when I received a call from Mr. Glorioso.  He was very excited to tell me that AACPS had an opening for a cosmetology teacher at the Center of Applied Technology North.  He went on to say that he had contacted the school principal and human resources to tell them about me.  It is because of Mr. Glorioso that I was hired for that position. When I expressed my gratitude to him he simply said, “Now you go and give to someone else.”  Throughout my thirty one year career, as a teacher, internship facilitator, and now manager of internship and business programs, I have strived to do just that in honor of Mr. Glorioso. I will be forever grateful to Mr. Glorioso for all that he did for me.
