I am an AACPS: Parent, Freetown Elementary School

My oldest daughter Nadia started kindergarten in 2012 at Freetown Elementary. I’m not sure who was more nervous, me or Nadia. She had been an only child for about five years until her little sister, Abby, was born. Nadia and I spent all of our days together. Needless to say the first day of kindergarten was something I was selfishly dreading. We met with Nadia’s teacher, Ms. Amanda Dalgleish, before school started. Nadia and I both instantly liked her and I felt so lucky that Nadia would be spending her days with Ms. Dalgleish. The first few months were hard on Nadia but when she was at school and missed me Ms. Dalgleish would allow her to draw me a picture or write a little note to give to me when she was picked up. This helped more than Ms. Dalgleish will ever know. It gave Nadia something to look forward to instead of being sad that she was away from me. (I still have many of those pictures!) Nadia is now in fourth grade and her sister is in kindergarten. Nadia absolutely loves school! All of the teachers at Freetown Elementary are very kind and treat all the students with respect. Ms. Dalgleish especially helped us through a really hard time and I will be forever grateful.
