Nicholas, Grade 8

I am an AACPS: Student, Bates Middle School

In fourth grade, I decided to start playing the saxophone. My teacher was Mrs. Emily James, and she was a fantastic teacher. She taught me all of the necessary skills, and extended my knowledge of music exponentially, more than any other music teacher I’ve had. Since her advice was so useful, I kept it in the back of my mind until fifth grade, when I decided to try out for the Performing & Visual Arts program. Before the audition, I thought of all the skills that she helped me learn, and I made it into the program. Thinking back on it now, I would never have made the audition without her guidance.
