Eligibility:  School districts that have at least one school within a 20-mile radius of a Life Time destination.

Description: The Life Time Foundation partners with school districts to help them make healthy and sustainable changes to the school food program.  Specifically, the foundation seeks to help schools remove the “harmful seven ingredients of concern” from their food programs:

  • Trans fats and hydrogenated oils.
  • High-fructose corn syrup.
  • Hormones and antibiotics.
  • Processed and artificial sweeteners.
  • Artificial colors and flavors.
  • Artificial preservatives.
  • Bleached Flour.

Areas:   Partners receive access to:

  • Food Subsidy Grants:  short-term grants to offset the cost of serving healthier food that eliminates the “harmful seven ingredients of concern.”
  • Capital Equipment Grants:  one-time grants for kitchen equipment to make it possible for schools to serve healthier, scratch-cooked food.
  • Educational tools and materials that encourage kids to eat healthy.
  • An annual Culinary Boot Camp for school nutrition staff.
  • A free series of six 20 minute lessons on nutrition and physical activity.
  • An online community created specifically for school nutrition staff and school food experts.
  • A free online resource that provides tools and education to help improve school food.
